flea

Image

there is beauty

whenever our tears well

and we hear the voices

of angels rejoice

spilling their spell

upon feline fur

of brilliant orange and white

keeping our souls warm

in the shadows of night

oh heavenly creature luminous and bright

shimmering through the pain

he is an angel

beaming his light

upon each morning

leaving a treasure

his beloved flea

the simplest pleasure

at the foot of her bed

while she lays sleeping

all the good in the world

curls into the fetal position weeping…

chewed and bitten

pawed and clawed

the softest stuffed toy

lay sweetly gnawed

a tiny fluff so humble so sweet

an angel’s love lays beneath her feet

his tattered toy

setting aglow the joy

beheld in the sunrise

of my daughter’s smile

About echowood628

Let me start by saying I have been involved in creative endeavors my entire life. I began playing the piano at age two, composed my first song at age four, and ever since have spent almost every day spending hours allowing my fingers to dance across my keyboard. Composing music for the piano gave me a place to heal and find peace. An art major in college I focused on drawing and figure drawing and I also enjoy oil painting and watercolors. I have always enjoyed poetry and more recently started writing poems and enjoying the freedom and limitlessness of expressing my heart with paper and ink. I am divorced with two grown children. My daughter is a published author and my son is attending college majoring in zoology.

How I love these words. How wonderful to exalt a flea.

what a peaceful picture, rest and serenity and the favorite ‘flea’…
it hit me that even the flea is in peaceful repose and there is no
need for the flea to flee… 🙂
